ABOUT US
We’re Mariah & Slater Cane!
We’re a husband and wife photography team who believe the best photos are the ones that feel like you.
We’re here for the real stuff — the belly laughs, the dirty shoes, the small glances, and all the little moments happening in between.
We started our photography business because we know how much a photograph can hold. One picture can bring you right back to a place, a person, a feeling, or a day you thought you’d forgotten. And years from now, those little things often become the things you’re happiest to have remembered. So, we photograph things as they actually happen.
Our approach is relaxed, natural, and a little bit hands-off. We’ll give you direction when you need it, but we’re never interested in turning your day into a full-on photoshoot.
We want you to be present, have fun, and actually live it since the best photos usually happen when you forget the camera is there.
The good stuff is usually the in-between moments.
We don’t think your photos need to be perfect. We think they should feel like you.
Years from now, we want you to look at your photos and remember more than what you wore or what the day looked like. We want you to remember how it felt to be there, the people you were with, the way you laughed, the warmth of the sun, the nervous excitement, the little things you didn’t even realize were happening.
Our job is simply to notice them. To slow down when something real is happening. To catch the moments you might have missed. To make photographs that feel less like a photoshoot and more like a memory.
The real stuff. The good stuff. The in-between stuff. That’s what we’re here for.
A modern day romance.
Our love story started with…Tinder.
About eight years ago, we matched and spent the next couple of years talking on and off. Slater was persistent (like, really persistent) but Mariah just wasn’t quite ready to give him a chance. After almost two years of asking her out, she finally agreed to a date.
And, well…that was pretty much it.
From that first date, we’ve been pretty much inseparable. We got engaged in 2023, married in 2025, and have spent the years since filling our lives with the things we love most: long road trips, camping trips, good food, new places, our favorite people, and finding reasons to turn an ordinary day into a good one.
And maybe that’s why we care so much about the little things. We know that life isn’t made up of perfectly posed moments. It’s made up of the inside jokes, the ugly laughs, the slow mornings, the unexpected adventures, and the moments you never thought to photograph.
Those are the moments we want to remember. And they’re the moments we want to give back to you.
Meet Slater
Slater is the guy behind the camera at Cane’s Photo Co. Most days, you’ll find him chasing the road, camping, exploring, working at Trader Joe’s, working on his business Wild Cane Supply Co., or enjoying the hobbies he’s had since he was a kid. He’s always had an eye for timeless design and a love for creating things that last.
He picked up a camera about 12 years ago and quickly found it to be one of his favorite creative outlets. What started as a way to document his own adventures eventually became a big part of how he creates and tells stories through Wild Cane and now Cane’s Photo Co.
He’s happiest outside, camera in hand, taking the long way, finding a backroad, or turning a simple weekend into an adventure. When he’s photographing people, he keeps things easy and natural with no forced poses, no overthinking it, just letting the good moments happen.
He’s there to keep things fun, make you laugh, and catch moments as they are happening.
Meet Mariah
Mariah is the heart behind Cane’s Photo Co. She’s a coffee shop manager, photo editor, professional over-packer, adventure planner, and the one who will always have a playlist for whatever mood the day calls for.
She’s happiest outside, camping somewhere in the mountains, finding a new coffee shop, or spending time with friends and family. She loves a good adventure, but she’s just as happy with the simple stuff: slow mornings, cooking dinner at home, and having nowhere to be.
As a perfectionist and an artist, Mariah has always paid attention to the little things. The way someone laughs, a quick glance, the way the light falls, or a moment happening when no one is paying attention. Those are the things she loves most about photography.
Behind the scenes, Mariah is Slater’s right hand. She’s his photography assistant and the one who brings everything together once the cameras are put away, from helping throughout the day to editing every gallery.
Working alongside her husband lets her do what she loves most: meet good people, explore new places, and turn the moments in between into something worth keeping. She’ll keep things organized, make you feel comfortable, notice the details, and probably have a pretty good song playing while she’s at it.
